Abstract

The unit has a TV camera for recording the X-ray image of the patient, the video signal used to obtain information relating to the position of the significant parts of the image in turn used to select the required measuring fields in the trajectory of the X-rays, and the selected fields defining the instant of release and hence the tone of the film. Each measuring field is associated with a capacitor, which stores the mean amplitude of the video signal from the part of the TV image spatially corresponding to the measuring field. A peak value measuring unit for the video signal amplitude storing a value corresponding to the maximum intensity of the Xrays, is used to release the measuring fields corresponding to capacitors with a stored value only slightly below the peak value over a large time interval.
