Abstract

Purificn. and degreasing process for waste water and sewage is partic. intended for the sanitation of the effluent from septic tanks, the biodegradation of the organic matter is effected by the forced passage of the water through an electrolytic treatment station. The electrolytic treatment station. The electrolytic tank is made from an insulating matl. such as reinforced polyester or polystyrene. Its upper face has an inspection door which is covered by a removable lid which is sealed by a joint. The effluent enters at and follows a sinuous course around the electrodes to leave by the outlet. The vertical electrodes, at different levels from the bottom of the tank, are connected by two horizontal electrodes which supply the electric current. A series of streams of bubbles of oxygen and hydrogen is produced and assure the rapid bio-degradation of the organic matter. The floating foam is evacuated at the front of the tank where the baffles form cascades which aerate and destroy the foam, this operation is completed by jets from a row of spraying nozzles. The relatively simple process effectively purifies effluents which are heavily loaded with suspended matter and grease. It is partic. suitable for occasional use for holiday homes and camping sites. There are no mechanical parts and therefore no risks of a breakdown.
