Abstract

This transmission system uses a code of three current levels flowing in a two-wire system, i.e. positive direction flow, negative flow and no current flow. Toroidal differential transformers link the transmitters and receivers which are thus isolated from the twisted and screened pairs of transmission wires. The transmitter is coupled by a winding to the transformer and has positive and negative sensing gates with pulse width limiters and power amplifiers. A short circuiting winding prevents false information transfer, when not transmitting. The receiver, linked by a transformer winding, has threshold comparators and detector gates with clock pulses generated during data pulse periods.
