Abstract
In association with each processor is an adapter assembly including wired or microprogrammed logic for signal conversion and data exchange procedures. The adaptor assembly has a data interface specifically adapted to that processor concerned, and a communication interface forming an interconnectable junction of invariable arrangement. This junction, for predetermined transmission norms, includes at least one (n+1) path channel for transmission of elementary data of n bits which is representative of a fraction of an information word. An accompanying binary signal signifies in one of its states that the transmitted data is a set of signals, such that the vocabulary of this set which is made as rich as that of other data effectively permits the standardisation of exchange procedures and signals suitable for any processor.
