Abstract

In order to utilise the longer life and general safety of low voltage electric light bulbs in e.g. decorative table lamps, without the use of heavy heat producing transformers, a low ultrasonic frequency device generating an electromagnetic field with the normal alternating current input and subsequent amplification of the developed low voltage to power the low voltage lamp is incorporated in the lamp base. A capacitor bridges the input voltage. The resultant field is transferred to the secondary winding which smoothes the voltage and a load resistance prevents surging of the lamp when switched on.
