Abstract
Two drive shafts lie parallel to each other and rotate in opposite senses. Two cranks have their inner points connected together and their outer ends fitted to eccentric pins on the drive shafts, one crank to each shaft. Each of a second pair of cranks has one end connected to a pivot approximately at the mid-point of the first cranks, the pivot being at the same position on both cranks, the other ends being pinned together with the ends of the opposed piston connecting rods. This pivot point provides the reciprocating motion for the pistons. The piston axis is perpendicular to the axes of the drive shafts.
