Abstract

The lengthwise bars (2) of the reinforced concrete reinforcement are enclosed by the anti-cracking device (3). The device may be in the form of a sleeve (3) adhering to the bar (2) and consisting of a ductile cement or resin or mixed mortar, containing sand or filler or both, and also metal or synthetic fibres, if required. The sleeve maybe impregnated with resin. alternatively, the device may be a plastic sheath which may stick to the reinforcement bar (2). If the sheath is non-adhesive the gap between the bar (2) and the sheath is filled with resistant and ductile adhesive. Alternatively, the device may be a spiral or cylindrical lattice of metal or other material, enclosing the bar without touching it.
