Abstract
The capsule can be made from any metal compatible with the sampling material. It comprises a hollow cylinder (1), with an open top (1d) and a flanged base (1b, 1c). The internal bore is flat bottomed with parallel sides (1a), the upper section being larger in diameter to form an annular step (1e). The sampling material (S) is placed in the lower part and a tight fitting seal (2) in the upper, this seal resting on the step to control the amount of compression on the material. The assembly is placed under a press and the open top deformed inwards using a hollow punch, to grip the seal.
