Abstract

Wood fibres are mixed with adhesive in a pref. horizontal cylindrical mixing chamber contg. a paddle which comprises an axially extending shaft having radial paddle blades at spaced positions along its length. Adhesive is fed to the mixing chamber through a number of pref. vertical feed ducts arranged so that the spacing between the ducts is slightly greater than the paddle blade thickness so that the blades can pass between the ducts, and the ends of the ducts terminate adjacent the tips of the blades whereby wood fibres are moved axially along the chamber by the blades and are directed into the adhesive flow issuing from the ducts. Pref. each blade has a pointed leading formed on its outer end, and pref. two feed ducts are arranged between adjacent blades.
