Abstract

The ductile material, pref. aluminium, tennis racket employs a plastic loop forming cable connecting the frame to the strings which are concealed within the frame, achieving a more aesthetic and serviceable product. The frame (2) is of U section, with the channel facing outwards and the base of the channel drilled at suitable intervals to permit the undulating passage of the string support cable along the frame. The channel is filled with an elastomer to effectively anchor the support cable. The support cable is pref. plastic sheathed wire and it forms loops in the plane of the strings. Successive drillings can be staggered providing inclined loops and eliminating torsion.
