Abstract

In a horizontal platform elevator, partic. for loading and unloading the shelves of a bakers oven, the platform is mounted on top of cross-pivoted links extending upwards from a base frame to form a scissors or lazy-tongs lifting platform mechanism. At the bottom of the linkage a first link end is hinged on a pivot fixed to the base frame while the second link end is movable horizontally towards and away from the fixed pivot by a power drive, thus raising and lowering the platform, and pref. the second link end is pivoted on a horizontally sliding crosshead fixed to a nut of which the thread engages with a jacking screw driven by toothed or chain gearing from an electric motor. Limit switches can be positioned for actuation by the crosshead so that the platform will automatically stop at predetermined levels, pref. pre-selectable on a multi-level lift type controller with electronic memory. Platform height can additionally be manually adjustable, e.g. by screw-regulated spacing of the link-ends at the top of the linkage, pref. inside the framework of the platform itself. Powered mechanisation reduces manual labour, with automatic platform levelling to speed oven turnaround.
