Abstract

Machine for electron-beam welding, esp. of two coaxial parts, consisting of a first chamber (I) evacuated by a first pump (I) and provided with a seal pressed against one of the parts being welded which is located coaxially round the second part forming a circular path for the weld, chamber (I) contg. an electron gun partly surrounded by a second evacuated chamber (II). Chamber (II) is mounted via rollers on a slide which can move radially across a ring which is coaxial with the parts being welded, and the ring can be rotated round its axis inside chamber (I). A metal bellows fixed to the top of chamber (II) permits the latter to travel round the welding path. Reliable vacuum seals and a micrometer adjusts the radius of the circle round which the gun travels, so the dia. can be adjusted between some mm and some dm.
