Abstract

Stable or cow-shed manure and the like is dried by moving it along a conveying path in contact with a hot air flow; in addition, ultrasonic and/or microwave radiation is applied to the material to generate internal heat and promote rapid drying. The pref. appts. may comprise either a belt conveyor with ultrasonic and/or microwave generators mounted pref. above it, or a screw conveyor with perforations to permit the passage of the air and a similar arrangement of generators.
