Abstract

Continuous drier for bulk material comprises a tunnel through which the material is conveyed, e.g. on a conveyor band fed by a gravity chute and discharging to a conveyor screw, while a current of air is passed through the tunnel. As it moves through the tunnel, the material is subjected to ultra high frequency radiation, pref. frequency 13 to 6000 MH2, the layer of material being backed by mirrors which reflect radiation back through the material. Used for drying e.g. vegetables and cereal crops, vegetable waste, fodder etc. Electric power only is required, i.e. for U.H.F emitters and air circulating fan; drying heat and time and thus controllable by regulating amplitude or radiation.
