Abstract
The device (1) has a housing (2) in which two parallel shafts (6) and (7) rotate in opposite directions. The shaft (6) has a number of radial arms (10) arranged in diametrically opposite pairs along the length of the shaft. Specially shaped masses (3) can move radially along the arms (10). The shaft (7) has similar masses (4) sliding on arms (11). Each shaft and mass assembly is enclosed in a cylinder (16, 17) mounted eccentrically to the shaft axis. The shafts are rotated in opposite directions and the eccentric cylinders cause the masses (3, 4) to oscillate radially, subjecting the masses (3 and 4) to a coriolis force and the reaction to this force is imparted to the structure.
