Abstract

The camshaft has a central collar which has a radial slot on each face. The slots are positioned at 180 deg. to each other. The cams are mounted on the shaft but are free to rotate. Each cam has a radial groove. Between each cam and the collar there is a ring provided with two diametrically opposite cylindrical bosses. One of these bosses engages with the radial groove in the cam, the other boss engages with the groove in the collar. The ring is surrounded by a needle roller bearing. Varying the eccentricity of the bearing relative to the shaft causes relative rotation between the cam and the shaft.
