Abstract

Heat shrinkable sheathing is mfd. by feeding thermoplastic tubing through a roll nip whilst maintaining a hydrostatic pressure within the tubing upstream of the roll nip; and passing the pressurised portion of the tubing through a hot over or bath which softens the tubing sufficiently to cause it to swell to the required size. Partial contraction is pref. obtd. during shrinkage without simultaneous longitudinal contraction.
