Abstract

Aquarium fitler comprises filter means, and a support having a low enough density to allow the filter to float even when the filter means are completely saturated with the water circulating through the filter. The support is pref. made of synthetic cellular material, pref. expanded polystyrene, and comprises a compartment contg. a layer of filter material which is covered with a foam plastics layer on top of which filter material is laid. At the base of the compartment is a transverse groove at the bottom of which are two elongate apertures covered by a foam plastics strip inserted in the groove to retain the layer of filter material.
