Abstract

A self-lubricating, low-friction lining for (esp. spherical) bearings comprises a resin matrix, fluorinated carbon particles, esp. pulverulant or flocculant PTFE, and also graphite fibres possessing a higher coefficient of friction, tensile strength and coefficient of thermal conductivity than the fluorinated carbon particles. The fibres are pref. of non-circular section and have a max. width of 14mu; and are pref. 12.5-14mu wide, 4.5-5.5mu thick, and 3 mm. max. length. The graphite fibres pref. constitute 1-20% of the total weight of particles.
