Abstract

Insecticidal nails comprise a head, a narrow shank, and a broader point, the shank being coated with a layer of a solid or solidified insecticide, or with a porous support bearing an insecticide, the nails being immersed in a solvent just prior to being fixed in the timber to be treated. Used for prevention of attack to timber by xylophagous insects. The nails may be used on thin sections of wood without weakening the structure.
