Abstract

The accumulator is for driving motors or machine tools, and comprises a variable-volume housing with actuators reducing its capacity as fluid is discharged from it, thus counteracting the resultant pressure loss. These can be in the form of a ram whose piston is coupled to a movable base sliding in the housing and forming a seal against the inside of the latter. There can be an air cushion of circular shape covering the front face of the movable base. There can be a pressure gauge with a probe inserted in the housing and with a switch connected to a battery, so as to actuate a pump supplying the ram.
