Abstract
In order to improve the adhesion and the useful life of the electrode, the base of the electrode consists of a titanium oxide TiOx, where x = 0.25 to 1.50, preferably 0.42 to 0.6, and a cover layer which covers the base at last in part and contains activating substances such as noble metals or noble metal compounds. The porosity of the base is approximately from 20 to 50%, the mean pore diameter from 0.5 to 5 mm. That face of the base which faces away from the covering layer is provided with a sintered titanium layer to improve weldability and solderability. The TiOx is prepared by compacting and sintering a powder mix of titanium and titanium dioxide.
