Abstract

In the title reaction a cpd. (I) is reacted with a cpd. (II) (III) or (IV) in the presence of a solid acid which contains an acid whose strength Ho (Hammett) is 1.5, insol in the reaction system. (where R1 and R2 are H or 1-20C org. carboxylic acid radicals, R3 R4 and R5 are H or Me; X and X1 are each different and all halogen, or 1-20C- org. carboxylic acid radicals; Y is H or 1-20C satd. or unsatd. hydrocarbyl). The acid catalyst is pref. silica/alumina of specific surface area of >=1 m2/g pref. 100 m2/g contg. is not 0.25 m mole/g acid of Ho 1.5.
