Abstract

The device provides an easy and practical method of treating house timbers in situ, against woodworm, etc. The device consists of a hollow internally threaded nail which is driven into the affected area. It has perforated sides to allow the diffusion of an insecticide (7) inside the nail, into the wood. In the nail, above the insecticide, is a plug (6). A threaded rod (8) provided with a driving slot is screwed into the hollow nail and presses upon plug (6) forcing the insecticide out through the perforations. The product is prevented from leaking out through the performations prematurely during the driving of the nail by a plastic film which is eventually ruptured by the pressure from the threaded rod.
