Abstract
Trapezoidal distortion correction intended to remedy the effects of coil position erros and to provide some simplification in tube and correction system assembly. Correction is achieved by creating a field varying at the frame frequency, modifying the tube magnetic field at the tube extremities, such that the trapezoidal distortion is removed at both upper and lower tube face extremities, this additional correction field is created by winding on the deflection ferrite cores two extra windings arranged symmetrically to the horizontal axis of the tube. Control is by a potentiometer which may be centre tapped to earth to provide correction in 'X' and 'Y' face axes.
