Abstract

The bumpers (1) are made of glass fibre reinforced plastic and produced by a moulding process. They are of generally hollow section, opening out towards each end. In the central part (M) the section is that of a stirrup and a partition (10) which joins two outer sides. The opening (9) is slightly tapered. This section changes towards the ends of the bumpers. Reinforcing pieces can be moulded in the hollow section. They locate on the bumper proper by serrated edges on each. The tapering and opening of the end parts can be done in a number of ways.
