Abstract

Water-sol. disinfecting and/or deodorising prod. intended to be dissolved slowly in the flushing water of a lavatory pan consists of a mixt. of 19% detergent, 80% p-dichlorobenzene and 1% of perfume; it is melted 65-75 degrees C and poured into a bag of polyvinyl alcohol, 20-30 mu thick, placed in a supporting cage, moulded in two halves of a plastic material. During pouring of the prod. the top half of the supporting cage is replaced by a sleeve; when the prod. has solidified, the top half of the cage is placed in posn. and the two parts are clipped together by a ring. An anchoring hook is united to the ring and hooks over the edge of the pan. When the assembly is placed in posn. the first flush of water causes the immediate soln. of the polyvinyl alcohol film thus destroying the barrier between teh active substance and the exterior. The prod. is then dissolved without difficulty in the water of succeeding flushings. The protective film prevents the evapn. of volatile prods. during storage and allows the device to be put into posn. without any contact between the active materials and the fingers; no packing has to be removed before use.
