Abstract

The double-glazed window is designed to prevent peripheral seal deterioration due to seasonal pressure changes and permit altitude pressure changes, and has a tube (1) with a dehydrating agent filter plug (7) and a sprung (11, 12) oscillating piston (10), this tube connecting the space (3) between the panes and the outer ambient air (4). Minor pressure changes are accommodated by limited piston displacements in the required direction, the piston (10) being arranged between opposed calibrated springs (11, 12). Greater pressure changes cause the piston (10) to pass grooves (13 or 14) in the tube wall to provide communication with the outer air. The filter plug is easily removable and has perforated ends (8, 9) retaining a silicon paste.
