Abstract
Process for sintering fine material on a travelling gate where the material forms a bed and its upper surface is ignited under a hood and the gases are sucked through the bed into wind boxes located underneath the sintering zone and, after purification the waste gas is released to the atmos.; the bed of material then passes into a cooling zone also fitted with wind boxes fitted with an exhaust gas system. The sintering zone may be increased or reduced in length by connecting some of the wind boxes at the start of the cooling zone to the exhaust gas system underneath the sintering zone with a corresponding redn. or increase in the length of the cooling zone. The pref. device is a sintering belt fitted with the necessary extn. boxes, pipes and valves.
