Abstract

Rough surfaces are generated on rubber gloves by dipping the gloves into a mixt. of a solvent and a coagulating agent just long enough for the surface matl. to swell and gel before drying the glove and vulcanising the roughened structure. Used for mfr. of industrial gloves, esp. gloves comprising textile linings coated with 'neoprene' (RTM) latex from a concd. dip (2500-3500cP), opt. by successive dipping to different levels, followed by surface modification in a solvent/coagulant dip (320-840 cP). Creates a uniformly rough surface on all areas given a partic. dip treatment.
