Abstract

Standardisation of the elements of ventilator ducts is the aim of this invention. The elements are composed of standard prefabricated rectangular thin walled sections which are stiffened along the corners by angles (6). One end of each unit is provided with tongues (11, 12) which are inserted in the next section and the other may easily be cut to length (9, 10) because of its rigidity. A range of units is made including contractions and bends and having a standard range of cross-sectional sizes, each unit being indexed, so that a complete set for any installation may be specified quickly on the drawing board. The system reduces assembly and specification time and a complete seal is easily achieved by wrapping the joints with self-adhesive tape.
