Abstract

The wings are constructed with hollow cylindrical leading edge spars (35) and hollow triangular trailing edge spars (36) connected by flexible membranes forming the upper and lower wing surfaces (37, 38). Various methods are described by which the air pressure inside the wing may be controlled and thus change the wing section. One method is to construct shielded holes (42) in a region of low pressure of the upper surface and to supply air at high pressure via a valve (45) from a total pressure tube (44). Adjusting the valve controls the inflation of the membranes and thus the lift generated by the surface. Differential control of the half wings given roll control. The wing is intended for use as a paresol wing with a light cockpit/gondola.
