Abstract

The indicator sensor on the trailer coupling indicates to the driver the angle between the longitudinal axis of the vehicle and the longitudinal axis of the trailer. This angle is important to the driver on coupling the trailer to the traction vehicle. The indicator system has a nylon rope which the driver connects between the trailer and the traction vehicle. This rope is held taut and initially both vehicle parts can be in an arbitrary relative position to each other. The rope is connected to the traction vehicle rotating slider by a hook, and the slider rotates over a resistor. The resistance is varied by the relative angle and displayed to the driver. The driver is hence able to straighten his vehicle relative to the trailer for coupling purposes completely unaided.
