Abstract

A core for the beading of a tubeless tyre comprises a wire inlay constituting an annulus and having an elastomer strip bearing against its radially outward surface; both the wire inlay and the elastomer strip are surrounded by a sleeve, i.e. a tube of toroidal shape; the elastomer strip is of a hardenable but not yet hardened material. Pref. the sleeve is a simple ring of loose, square-weave textile, laid as a ring around the wire and strip and folded completely around them. This sleeve may be thermal-shrinking, esp. of monofilament nylon. The wire inlay is pref. polygonal in section, and in particular may have an internal face (radially) having a cone angle of 15 degrees to the axis of the ring.
