Abstract

The arm (3) is articulated on a vertical shaft (6) of an electric motor (7) having two windings which tend to cause the arm to adopt two respective orientations, the angle between these being equal to that separating the rest position of the arm (3) and the position corresponding to the start position for a small gramophone record. The arm (3) is lifted or lowered by an electro magnet (11) with a movable core (12) surrounded by a coil carrier (13) supporting the excitation winding (14), itself surrounded by a soft iron casing (15) perforated for the passage of the core (12). Magnetic means are preferably also provided for lightly maintaining the arm in each of its selected positions corresponding to the different disc diameters.
