Abstract

Device for emptying an enclosure contg. a gas under pressure comprises a cylindrical duct, fixed to the chamber, provded at its lower end, with an exit opening for the gas, a closure valve applied onto a seat arranged in the duct around the exit opening and a device for manoeuvring the valve, the manoeuvring device comprising a mechanism for displacing the valve transversely wrt. the axis of the duct to a position away from the flow of gas emitted from the exit. Used for release of gas under pressure in a blast furnace. Reduced erosion of the valve by the rush of gas at high temp. is obtd.
