Abstract

Mounted on a wheeled chassis (11, 12), and pulled by a tractor, is a framework (14) supporting a trough (13) either side. The power take off (17) from the tractor drives a central mainshaft (15) which has two rotating discs (20, 21), each being provided with driving dogs (41, 42, 43, 44). These strike against, and oscillate, shaker arms (22, 23, 24, 25) mounted in the frame (14) and equipped with picking fingers (30, 31, 32), actuated by cylinders (35, 36). Ripe grapes drop into the troughs and are crushed by screw conveyors (45) driven from the mainshaft (15, 46). These discharge at the rear into a suitable container. A secondary driven shaft (16, 19) powers a suction pump (47) and a fan (48, 49) which separate stalks and leaves.
