Abstract

The self-excitation circuit for brushless alternating current generators, such as turbo-generators, has phototransistors on the generator shaft receiving optical radiation from fixed light sources, preferably light emitting diodes. A control circuit contains an inverter and a power converter and actuates a unit for setting the power converter in agreement with the operating state of an uncontrolled rectifier. The light emitting diodes of a commutating circuit, an inverter and a setting control circuit are connected to an A.C. excitation machine. The phototransistors are all coupled to the power converter. The inverter diodes are connected over a semiconductor switch to the setting control circuit light emitting diodes.
