Abstract

Ski wax contg. a mixt. of polystyrene, a solvent for the polystyrene and a natural or synthetic oil, gives excellent slide and grip under a wide range of conditions. The oil used is pref. a mineral oil such as motor oil. The solvent may be an aromatic hydrocarbon, chlorohydrocarbons, esters, cyclohexanone, etc. Pref. the oil is soluble in the solvent and the wt. ratio polystyrene/oil is 2:1 to 1:2 esp. 1:1. The product may be packed in spray cans for easy application.
