Abstract

A cigar trimmer has a cup shaped housing (2) carrying a circular cover (3) and the latter can be rotated while locating inside the former. Inset in the horizontal surface of the cup portion (2) are two spiral shaped cam surfaces (6), and attached to the cover, sliding in slots, are two blades (12, 13) with lugs (16) extending downwards from them, to locate inside the sunket cams, held in contact with the cam surfaces by springs (14, 15). When the cover is rotated, the cam surfaces force the blades inwards to slide towards the centre of the unit, so that their curved cutting edges crop the end of an inserted cigar, and the severed piece falls through a hole (5) in the middle of the horizontal surface of the cup portion.
