Abstract

The system is designed to be continuous and resist impact and strain due to sea swell etc. and employs upper and lower arms (1) tying the fender (2) back to the vessel (4). Each arm (1) is a continuous elongated rectangular strip with long edges respectively weldered to the fender, and returning (6) to house a tube (5) which is bolted (8, 9) at regular intervals to the vessel (4); the arm thus resisting alternating vertical forces by tension which is spread to the vessel fixings by the longitudinal tubes. Bolts are adjustable with fixed heads (9), arranged to clamp the hub tubes, which are demountable with links encircling the tubes. A second protective sheath (13) can be used and fenders have drilled (12) partitions (11) improving shock absorption.
