Abstract
Catalysts based on Y zeolite contg. both rare-earth metal and H+ ions are prepd. by mixing the Y zeolite with a 2nd zeolite comprising (a) cation-exchanged mordenite, in which the exchange cation is H+, a rare-earth metal, Co, Ni and/or another di- or trivalent transition metal or Group II metal, (b) the Ca form of A zeolite, or (c) the H form of erionite. The catalysts are esp. useful for the prodn. of gasoline and C3-4 hydrocarbons by cracking heavier petroleum fractions, e.g. gas oil. The combined zeolite catalysts give reduced coke formation, have high stability w.r.t. high temps. and steam, and have high yields and selectivities.
