Abstract

Automatic cutting and stacking of labels and similar blanks from a continuous strip of material. The material (2) passes over guides (3, 4) and feeds between a cutter (6) and a back-up cylinder (5), which holds the material by suction. The blanks (12) are detached by another suction cylinder (11) and picked up by a takeoff roller (13) having a surface speed approximately 25% greater than the cutter back-up cylinder. The blanks are fed onto conveyors (14, 15) running at a slower speed than the takeoff roller, which causes the blanks to close up and overlap each other. These are then counted (16) and stacked (17). Waste (7) is removed to one side.
