Abstract

A continuous plastic tube (opt. with a longitudinal seam) is continuously advanced and cut and welded at spaced positions to form plastic bags and the bags are transferred to a stacking position on a feed conveyor during the period in which the feed conveyor advances a completed pile away from the stacking position whereby continuous feed of the plastic tube is not interrupted and the processing speed is increased. Pref. newly formed bags are formed into an intermediate pile which is transferred to the stacking position such that the leading edge of the intermediate pile overlaps the trailing edge of the adjacent completed pile.
