Abstract

The soaps, pref. those where fatty acids have 8-10C chains and the alkyl radicals of the dialkylamine are 4C, especially caprylate and/or caprate of di-n-butylammonium, are prepd. by simple 1:1 molar mixture of fatty acid and amine. Prods. are liquid anti-rust agents soluble in water and soluble or dispersible in organic media, can be used in industrial cleaners etc. in amts. of 0.01-10%, pref. 0.1-3% by wt. of total, and are biodegradable and non-toxic.
