Abstract

Articles (A) are fed by a belt (1) between inflatable guides (4) and onto a wide moving belt (5) on a wheeled carriage (7) driven to and fro by a ram (10, 11) at right angles to the belt travel. The incoming line moves quasi-sinusoidally across the machine and feeds onto a third belt (12) moving under several outlet channels (14). A lever (18, 19) above each channel pivots on a common rod (16) and, when all the channels are full, light passes through aligned holes (20) in the levers to activate a photoelectri cell (21, 22). The guides (4) on the incoming side inflate, stopping the feed until a lever drops and deactivates the cell. A time delay smooths the operation.
