Abstract

A sample tube holder so constructed as to enable sample tubes to be stored while tests are carried out by an automatic analyser, at the same time identifying the tube and its position in the holder by means of photo-electric light source which scans an identification mark on a magnetic plate which runs the length of the rear, of the holder and is fixed to it. A secondary use of this magnetic strip is that it allows storage of the holders in the vertical plane on a magnetised plate. A computer is used to store and co-relate all analysed samples and identify them with a patient or a project. The sample holder allows tests and analyses to be carried out continuously and automatically.
