Abstract

The purpose of the invention is to provide greater clearance for the trawl as it leaves the trawler. This is achieved by means of two iron booms (C) of U section which fit into either side of the cross-member connecting the two sides of the gantry. These booms are spread laterally when in the fishing position and are hinged so as to be folded in a fore and aft position when not in use. A cable on each side attached forward on the ship, passes through the block in the end of the spreader arms and carries an aft joining link. The trawl has a joining link at the required trawling length which catches in the joining link on the first cable.
