Abstract

A protective garment is filled by placing the garment on person and filling pockets within the garment with foam. The pocket have at least one flexible wall so that the interior of garment takes up the exact contours of the part of the body on which the garment is placed, and >=1 porous wall so that gas can escape completely from the foam during polymerisation. The method is used for producing protective ski helmets, shoes etc. The garment fits the wearer perfectly and because all the gas is allowed to escape from the foam during polymerisation a more uniform protective structure within the garment is provided.
