Abstract

A process for chemically inducing the deposn. of increased amts. of oleoresin in a living conifer comprises applying to a small prepared site on the trunk an aq. soln. of a substd. bipyridilium salt (I). Manual labour and costs are reduced; no deep incisions are made as the prior art; and significant amts. of oleoresin are deposited in the sapwood of young trees.
